Potatoes

Crops

The Day family have been growing top quality Lincolnshire potatoes for over 50 years.

Based in and around the picturesque village of Redbourne in the county of Lincolnshire we strive to grow our potatoes to the highest standards.

The potatoes are distributed via a network of merchants and this allows them to be offered in a selection of outlets throughout England.

These outlets range from our large supermarket customers through to traditional vegetable markets in London, Liverpool and Manchester. We are also proud to be able to offer our potatoes to a number of local outlets such as pubs, chip shops, garden centres and local village shops.

The potatoes are grown on limestone soil on the Redbourne land. This is an excellent soil which gives the potatoes a bright colour and a distinctive reddish tint.

Some of the varieties we grow are:-

Maris Piper - The best all round potato grown in Great Britain. (Especially good for mash and chips)

King Edwards - Not only one of the oldest but also one of the most recognisable varieties grown. Known for its taste and absolutely fantastic for roasting

Ambo - These are at their very best on the run up to Christmas, we grow this variety for the wholesale markets. These are distinguishable by a hint of red on the skin and are extremely tasty.

Melody - A fairly new variety but fast becoming a favourite, Often to be seen on the supermarket shelves. Fabulous when cooked in the oven as jacket spuds.

Marfona - another traditional variety which is extremely versatile. We grow these for relatively early lifting so they are on the shelves in July / August / September.

Salads - We have been growing salads for a number of years now. The portfolio of varieties has evolved over the seasons. Currently we are growing Charlotte, Marilyn, Gemson and Bambino. We grow the salads in conjunction with E Park & Sons who are preferred packers for Asda.
